Elementary Math Intervention Specialist
Position: Part-time (3-days)
Location: Chapel Hill Christian School North Campus
Description:
Chapel Hill Christian School is seeking a caring, knowledgeable, and Christ-centered Math Intervention Specialist to support students in Kindergarten through 6th grade who need additional assistance in mathematics.
The Math Intervention Specialist will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to identify student needs, provide targeted math intervention, monitor student progress, and help students develop confidence and competence in mathematics. Intervention may take place through small-group pull-out instruction, individual support, or push-in services within the classroom.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students succeed academically while modeling Christian character, patience, encouragement, and a genuine love for children.
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted math intervention to students in Kindergarten–6th grade.
- Conduct small-group and/or individual math instruction based on identified student needs.
- Provide pull-out intervention as appropriate for individual students or small groups.
- Provide push-in support within the classroom in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to identify students who would benefit from additional math support.
- Use student data, classroom assessments, and teacher recommendations to determine areas of need.
- Reinforce and reteach foundational math skills and concepts.
- Support students in developing math fact fluency, problem-solving skills, number sense, computation, and mathematical reasoning.
- Provide differentiated instruction based on individual student needs and learning styles.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations and recommendations with classroom teachers and administration.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of intervention services and student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom instruction and the school's mathematics curriculum.
- Encourage students and help them develop confidence, perseverance, and a positive attitude toward mathematics.
- Maintain a professional, positive, and Christ-centered learning environment.
- Support the mission, vision, policies, and standards of Chapel Hill Christian School.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, Intervention, or a related field preferred.
- Valid teaching license/certification preferred but not required.
- Experience working with elementary students in mathematics.
- Experience providing intervention, remediation, or small-group instruction preferred.
- Strong understanding of elementary mathematics concepts and instructional strategies.
- Ability to analyze student performance and use data to guide instruction.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Patient, flexible, organized, and able to work effectively with students who have varying academic needs.
- Commitment to Christian education and the mission of Chapel Hill Christian School.
- Demonstrates a personal Christian faith and a desire to model Christ-centered character to students.
- Professes faith in Jesus and exhibits a growing relationship with Him.
