Hi, my name is Kelly Lawson. I am thankful to God for entrusting your child with me for an exciting year in fifth and sixth grade, math and science. I can’t wait to “unwrap” what God has instilled in your children and help unveil His plan for each one, with God’s grace.

I am from Solon, Ohio. I grew up in a Christian home with two sisters and one brother. I married my college sweetheart. We have a daughter, Mia and a dog named Buddy. Currently, our family attends Christ Community Church. I love the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Indians and the Cavs. Becoming a teacher was a clear choice for me because I love going to school and I love children. I graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in elementary education. After college, I taught eight years in Cleveland Municipal School District. When my daughter came along, I was given the gift to stay home. When she entered elementary school, God opened the doors for me to teach a three year old class at Northminster Preschool. After six years of spending time at the preschool level, I felt God was leading back to full time position so I decided to substitute in several local school districts while I earned credits to renew my Ohio teaching license. Once again, God provided for me and a first grade position opened at Chapel Hill Christian School. I love being able to express my love for God, teaching children how to develop a relationship with God and help them understand how each student fits into His plan. Currently, I am working on my Master’s in Reading and Literacy.

What’s Special About This Grade?

Fifth and Sixth grade are the perfect mix of being a dependent learner and independent learner. The students begin learning how to become critical thinkers. I love to watch these social learners rise to the demands placed on them as a group and as individuals. It is amazing to watch them connect God and their Christian values to content learning or subject matter.
