Reverend John Wilson, a Chapel Hill Christian School graduate of 1969, received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a boy of six and was ushered into discipleship shortly thereafter as a fourth grader at Chapel Hill Christian School. Growing up he participated in both the Chapel Hill Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and the Stow Alliance Fellowship. He was profoundly shaped spiritually by the Stow home Bible Study Seminar and led evangelistic home Bible Studies of this kind through high school and college.
A graduate of Taylor University in Indiana, Reverend Wilson received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1979. John enjoyed cross country and track during his Taylor years. He served in the field of counseling for four years: first with the terminally ill and second with troubled adolescents.
Reverend Wilson joined his father in the trucking business in 1983. John was married to Laura in 1985; they met in relationship to the business and established a church home at The Chapel of Akron. They worked together to build a mid-sized trucking service established on God’s principles until the death of John’s father due to the crash of his single-engine airplane in 1990.
Reverend Wilson sensed God’s call to ministry in 1992 and followed that call to Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky where he received the Master’s of Divinity degree in 1996. He served thereafter as the Dean of Students and Vice President of Advancement at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi and was blessed to preach God’s Word throughout the continental United States over the next four years in that role.
Desiring to return to Ohio to serve their mothers, John and Laura received a call to Tallmadge Alliance Fellowship as Senior Pastor and wife in 2001. Then with three children the Wilsons enrolled Emma and John at CHCS and Krista at CVCA. All three would eventually graduate from CVCA with the wonderful investment of Christian education. Krista and John went on to Moody Bible Institute where Krista graduated in Sacred Music and Theology and John in Bible. Emma studied at North Park University in the area of English Literature, Secondary Education.
Serving in the pastoral role on a mission trip to Guatemala, Reverend Wilson sensed God’s leading to submit his documents for the then open position of Administrator of Chapel Hill Christian School. He was blessed to be named to that position in May of 2010 and continues to be thrilled to serve in that role at present.
Reverend Wilson and his wife, Laura, passionately love the Lord and His children. They reside in Munroe Falls with their dog, Hoss, and they enjoy walking, jogging and riding on the trails of the Cuyahoga Valley National Forest State Park.
