A Message from Pastor John Wilson
Every time I think about you, I give thanks to my God. Philippians 1:3
Dear Chapel Hill Christian School Family,
Because of our affection for every one of you, Laura and I would love to take each of you aside to have an individual conversation with you about our retirement from Chapel Hill Christian School. Just over two years ago we began speaking with the Lord and our Board of Education about creating a succession plan so that the search could begin for the new Lead Administrator at God’s School – CHCS. We began to see the need to give additional time to our family and move into the next chapter of God’s plan for our lives.
As we enter the active phase of my retirement, I plan to continue my service to CHCS through the selection of our new leader and until June 30th, 2022 in order to effectively transition responsibilities and encourage our next Lead Administrator.
Laura and I want you to know that we’ve prayed over and seriously considered this decision because of how much we’ve loved serving with you at Chapel Hill Christian School. Many of our feelings are similar to those of the Apostle Paul when he was writing his letter to the Philippians. Every time we think about Chapel Hill’s Board of Education, the faculty and staff, the families and especially the awesome students, we thank our God!

Questions and Answers
Pastor Wilson will continue in his current role as Chapel Hill Christian School’s Administrator through June 30, 2022.
For this school year, nothing will change for you, your students and your family. Pastor Wilson will continue in his current role through June 30, 2022.
It is our hope that we will introduce our new Lead Administrator to you by spring 2022. Between Spring 2022 and June 2022, Pastor Wilson will spend time encouraging and investing in this individual to effectively transition responsibilities so that they may serve you, your family and this community as faithfully as possible.
In addition to our new Lead Administrator, God has already been moving inside our school, preparing those that will continue the work He started all those years ago. Individuals already on staff have begun preparing for this shift in leadership by taking on new responsibilities. In this, they will better be prepared to support our new Lead Administrator upon their arrival. Over the next year, we are excited to see God’s hand working in our school, helping to shape its future through Pastor Wilson’s final year and the introduction of God’s chosen servant as our new Lead Administrator.
Chapel Hill Christian School will continue to serve you and your students faithfully, just as we have for the past 56 years. Our goal remains the same: to inspire students to love God and one another, learn to reach their highest potential and be launched into the plan God has for their lives.
When Pastor Wilson’s plan to retire was put into action this summer, a Search Committee comprised of six members was established to provide structure as we search for our new Lead Administrator. In addition to these six individuals, members of our Board, Staff and Faculty are being selected to join them on the Search Committee.
On this page, you will find updates from the Search Committee as they diligently work to find the person God has chosen for the job. We plan to have our new Lead Administrator in place by spring to create a smooth transition period. Pastor Wilson will use this time to encourage and build up this individual to best serve in his place after he retires.
Over the past three years, Pastor and Mrs. Wilson have felt God’s calling to move into the next phase of their lives. After much prayer, both feel as though the time to retire from Chapel Hill has finally come. Through this, their hope is to focus on spending time with their family and to seek the Lord and His wisdom as they enter this next chapter of life.
Both Pastor and Mrs. Wilson love Chapel Hill Christian School dearly and will forever be thankful for their time serving you and your amazing families. As they enter into retirement, both will continue serving the Lord and His ministry through a time of service to family. The Lord’s plan for them is being continued as they seek Him and His future for them.
Over the past three months, the Search Committee’s leadership team has been developing an excellent, unified rapport and leveraging each other’s strengths in the executive search process. The following is an overview of our progress:
- Figured out how to articulate the unique identity of our school to prospective candidates.
- Developed an updated prospectus on our school and a position profile designed around the individual we envision our next Lead Administrator to be.
- Outlined the structure and desired timeline for our search with its planned fruition coming about in Spring 2022. This will allow for a smooth transition process.
- Currently working on a strategy for publishing our position posting and utilizing our professional network with whom our search will be shared.
More updates will be coming as we continue in the search process and as we establish an interview team composed of members from our faculty and staff.
God has certainly been at work in His School!
