Art

We are clay in the hands of the magnificent artist, Father God. We are like Him in our desire to create. Our students are trained to use their talents to honor and glorify God, and to use Godly discernment in their art creations and music listening choices.

Diverse Art Program at CHCS

The CHCS art program embraces a wide array of artistic media, allowing students to express their lives, memories, dreams, and faith through their creative endeavors.

Grade-Level Projects

Each grade level engages in projects spanning fabric, painting, 3-dimensional art, landscapes, still-life, and portraiture, fostering a well-rounded artistic experience.

Mastery of Art History

Our students study the works of master artists from history, gaining insights into their innovations and a deep appreciation for their unique styles.

Understanding Visual Language

Art is considered a visual language where elements like color, line, shape, and value hold clues to the artist's intended meaning. Our students enjoy the process of learning to "read" art, delving into the layers of artistic expression.

Embracing Our Identity

We embrace the belief that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to perform good works prepared in advance for us to accomplish, a perspective that enriches our artistic journey.

Music

Our music Course of Study has been designed so that students will be proficient in each of the National Music Content Standards as developed by the Music Educators’ National Conference.

Choirs and Fine Arts Program

Our school boasts a variety of choirs that all age groups actively participate in and showcase their vocal talents in these school-year ensembles.

Smaller Group Performances

In addition to choir performances, smaller groups take the stage at various times throughout the school year, including events at Christmas and the Spring Arts Festival.

Instrumental Lessons and Bands

For 5th and 6th graders, we offer band and group instrumental lessons. These young musicians come together to form bands that deliver captivating performances during the Christmas season and in the spring.

Special Performances for 6th Graders

Sixth-grade students have the unique opportunity to participate in a select vocal ensemble and a handbell choir. These groups often play an important role in ministering to our community through their performances.
