Hello! My name is Shelly Hayberg and I am excited to be back at the South Campus of CHCS this year. I grew up in Mogadore, not far from the south campus. I graduated from Mogadore High School and attended the University of Akron where I graduated with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. From there, I did some work in Coventry Local and Kent City Schools, teaching Title 1 reading groups and subbing. While in Kent, I also had a job sharing position in an Extended Day Kindergarten class for five years. During that time, I also returned to school for my master’s degree in Educational Psychology through a cohort at Kent State University. In 2012, I stayed home for a while with our children and then returned to work at CHCS when my son began kindergarten in 2014. I was an aide in a first grade classroom and then came back for the 2017-2018 school year as a Technology teacher for grades K-3, where I am excited to return this school year.
My husband, Gordon and I were married in 2005, and we have three children - Trevor, Gracie, and Brooklyn. We attend Cornerstone Church in Mogadore where Gordon is a campus pastor and we love to serve. The Lord has blessed our family in ways we could never have imagined.
This year I am looking forward to working with kindergarten through third grade students in Technology class. We will be exploring various types of Technology such as chromebooks, and iPads, and we may even dabble in some robotics this year! We will also be learning some STEM-related activities, exploring critical thinking, problem solving, and resiliency skills in addition to the fruits of the spirit, and social skills.
Here are some of my favorite sites we use in Technology class:
I love all that God is doing in and through the staff of Chapel Hill Christian School and can’t wait to see what the 2018-2019 school year brings, both as a teacher and a parent!
