Mrs. Stephanie Marroquin

Subject: Third Grade
Email: Mrs. Stephanie Marroquin

My name is Stephanie Marroquin and I began teaching third grade at Chapel Hill in 2004. I graduated from Chapel Hill and consider it a privilege to be now teaching in the same school that has formed me into the person I am today. After my years at Chapel Hill, I went on to Heritage Christian School for my middle and high school years. Upon graduation, I attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University where I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I am truly thankful for my years of education in a Christian environment, with teachers educating me through a Godly world view.

I have a great responsibility to teach children and to prepare them for the future. With that responsibility comes the great privilege of molding their hearts to be sensitive towards the Lord. Math, reading, language, science, and social studies are all essential to a successful future; however, I Corinthians 13 tells us that if we possess gifts of knowledge but have not love, we gain nothing. Therefore, my goal for the year is to instill into children a love for God, the greatest gift of all. With these two objectives, the children will be prepared for a life pleasing to the Lord, which is true success.

What's Special About This Grade?

Third grade is a transitional year from the "right answer" teacher-directed curriculum of second grade and the "explain your answer" independence of the fourth grade. Learning to be self-directed and self-governed are important new skills.
