Makayla came with another great idea that has some great application for all school children. She was playing with her stuffed lion named Lyly, when all of a sudden she recalled the story of Daniel and his struggle in the den.
So we got to “talkin in the hall” about how Daniel got down in that den; how did he get there? He continued to pray to our God, even when the law said to only pray to King Darius. He knew the right thing to do, and he did it! It’s called integrity. Daniel trusted God, and there was no cause too great for him to continue that practice.
Isn’t this a great idea for boys and girls, dads and moms and grandpas and grandmas? No matter what the culture is saying is acceptable or even what others around us are doing, if we follow and trust God we can be sure of at least HIM.
Now how does God respond when we trust Him? Does He make it so that we don’t have to go in the terrifying lion’s den? Well, for Daniel it did not work out that way! Yes, he went into the den! But God shut the mouths of those nasty lions and Daniel was delivered to the glory of God.
So what happens when we trust God and God responds is that everyone sees how great our God is. Even King Darius said, “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For He is the Living God and He endures forever…”
Well, we better pray that! Father in Heaven, thank you that when a child sees a stuffed animal, she thinks of Your Word. Help us to have the integrity to trust You today in any “lion’s den” we find ourselves. And act on our behalf, O God, that You may receive glory in the earth! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
