Mrs. Joyce Walters

Subject: Remedial Reading Specialist
Email: Mrs. Joyce Walters

My name is Joyce Walters. I received my bachelor's degree in Bible and Elementary Education from Taylor University - Fort Wayne and my master's degree in Reading from Saint Francis University. I am a certified educational therapist helping students with special needs.

I have been with Chapel Hill Christian School since 1990 as a classroom teacher, an educational therapist, and presently as a reading specialist. I have had the privilege of teaching at both campuses.

Parents and/or teachers refer students to me who may need help in one or more of the following areas: phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students come to reading in small groups or individually depending on the needs. Each student comes to my room at least twice a week from 30-45 minutes. I work closely with the teachers to schedule students so that they miss a minimum of classroom instruction time.

Motivating children to do their best brings me much joy. The parents, students, teachers, and administration work together for common goals.
