Hello, my name is Janet Brocklehurst. I am excited to have the opportunity be a part of Chapel Hill Christian School. I truly believe it is God's plan for me to work with these students. I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade; I have many experiences working with this age group and have come to love their inquisitive nature and desire for discussion.

I grew up in the small, rural town of Mercer, Pennsylvania. I went to college at Grove City College in Grove City, PA. Though it took a great deal of work and dedication, I feel that I received an excellent education while being blessed to be in a Christian environment. At Grove City College, I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in English and Social Studies. My certification enables me to teach all subjects K-6. Though my concentration was not in math, this is my favorite subject to both teach and learn.

I believe that students learn best when they are involved. In my classroom, the students will do projects in many areas as well as be active in the everyday lessons. Getting up and participating in the lesson, particularly math lessons, is the best way to learn in my opinion. I am eager to work with your child, and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me or call the school.

What's Special About This Grade?

One of the main goals of fifth grade is to teach independence in their researching and study skills. Fifth graders are learning to express their ideas in writing both in poetry and in reactions to their readings. I love reading their works. They have some great insights.
